How To Avoid Snoozing & Losing in Real Estate
I’ve been thinking about the phrase “you snooze, you lose” lately. It’s the first thing you read when you pick up an application for a K Resource home. Let me tell you, this phrase just about sums it all up when you’re going to buy or rent a house these days…if you wait (or “snooze”) someone else will most likely come along (hence you “lose”).
The last 3 houses I have sold, that same day I have had anywhere from 3-5 people call to buy that house. They call me up and say we’ve been waiting, thinking about the house, etc AND…we love the house we absolutely must have that house. Well I then have to explain to them that someone else came before them and bought it.
Therefore, I will share with you my 3 keys to aviod snoozing and losing when buying or renting a house in this market.
#1 Know your checklist or benchmarks for what makes a house something you ABSOLUTELY want. I recommend you make a list of things the house MUST have and things you can live with or without.
Know what your deal breaker is.
#2 Save money. Yes, save money. Put a belt on your wallet. Trim the fat, and make saving money fun. You may find your dream house and then realize you don’t have enough money to put towards it. Start saving your money so you have an extra cushion for that dream home.
#3 Find balance in your decision making. Give yourself a realistic timeline to make a decision and stick to it.
I fully believe if you employ these 3 tips you are going to have an easier time deciding about your new home…in other words you’re not going to snooze and you’re not going to lose!!
